Rozhovor se Zuzkou Gallistlovou o tom, jak se popasovala se zkouškou FCE a jak to bylo s tím jedním zatraceným bodíkem.

1) What did the preparation give you?
The preparation taught me that there’s still an enormous chunk of English that I don’t know. It also gave me discipline and I learned to think about English more.
2) How did you prepare and what was the most difficult to prepare for?
I tried to focus on the grammar more and focus more in general. The most difficult part to prepare for was definitely the speaking part since I am extremely shy and afraid to talk. And when put in a stressful situation such as taking the Cambridge exam I tend to get even more afraid
3) What was the most difficult during the exam and how did you deal with it?
The most difficult thing during the exam was definitely the stress. I don’t cope with stress very well and usually I mess things up when I’m in a stressful situation.
4) What should other students pay special attention to?
Definitely check if you actually chose the answer you wanted to chose when you are transferring the answers to the answer sheet.
5) How fast did you learn the results and when did you get the certificate?
I took the exam in June and I got the results at the end of July and the certificate was ready for me to pick up at the beginning of September.
6) Do you have any tips for people who would like to prepare well for the exam? (websites, ways to study, tricks etc.)
I strongly advice the people who would like to take the exam to take classes that will prepare you for it. Personally, I don’t think I would have succeeded if I hadn’t taken those classes. And then also try taking the tests from the previous exams to get familiar with the types of exercises that will be there.
7) Is there anything you would do differently if you were taking the exam again?
Well I suppose that I would think about the writing more because I didn’t do a great job on that.
8) Are you going to prepare for a higher exam or was FCE you main goal? Why or why not?
I definitely want to take the CAE exam. I am pretty ambitious in this aspect.
9) Are you happy with your result?
Well, I passed so I’m satissfied with that but I could’ve done better and get an A. It’s too bad because I only missed A and the level C1 by one point. But there is nothing I can do about that now so I must be satissfied with it. At least I didn’t fail. 🙂
